Topics for the evening include sheriff’s office reports from Osceola and Polk counties, school district reports from Osceola and Polk counties, Osceola Regional Medical Center will give an update on plans for the Poinciana hospital, Avatar will provide information on commercial development, the United States Census Bureau will have a representative speak on the importance of the 2010 Census and the hot topic of the Poinciana incorporation study will be discussed by the team from the University of Central Florida who conducted this study.

The Association of Poinciana Village’s Park and Recreation Department will have its annual Halloween party Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Poinciana Community Center, 395 Marigold Ave. Children to age 10 are invited to play games, collect treats and have a fun time.
First Baptist Church of Poinciana’s Fall Fest also will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy face-painting, live entertainment, games, prizes, an illusionist, a live white tiger, refreshments, candy and a bounce house. The church is at 601 Walnut St.
If your child will be doing the door-to-door trick-or-treating, make sure he or she is safe by being accompanied by an adult. Should your older children act like they are up to something, they probably are. Trust your instincts and get involved.

The Poinciana Brach Library will be the location for a financial aid for college night. If your student is planning on attending a two- or four-year college or a technical school, there are ways of gaining financial support. This event will be Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at the library.
