A Chase bank in Kissimmee was robbed Tuesday morning by a suspect who escaped in a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV, evading Kissimmee police by driving through residents’ yards near Boggy Creek Road.
The suspect entered the branch at 1477 E. Osceola Parkway at around 11 a.m. Kissimmee Police Department Capt. Warren Shepard said. He handed a note to the teller that implied he was armed and demanded cash, Shepard said. In the bank parking lot, the man was picked up by an SUV-style Mercedes-Benz, previously reported stolen out of Sanford. A female was driving the vehicle, witnesses said. A Kissimmee police officer in the area pursued the vehicle along Osceola Parkway but lost it around Boggy Creek Road. “He was going through people’s yards,” Shepard said. An air unit searched for the vehicle but to no avail. No one was injured in the incident and the male suspect never showed a weapon. He was described as a man with dark skin in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with an athletic build and wearing a light blue shirt, black shorts, a black baseball cap and dark sunglasses. |
