The Poinciana and Buenaventura Lakes communities are planning pre-Christmas parades again this year and roads in those communities will be temporarily closed to accommodate the events.
Poinciana parade
The annual Poinciana Christmas parade, sponsored by the Association of Poinciana Villages, will be Saturday, Dec. 12, with road closures expected from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The following roads in Poinciana will be closed: Country Club Road between Doverplum Avenue and Cypress Drive and all the streets that connect to Country Club Road within this; Cypress Drive between Country Club Road and Cypress Parkway; Cypress Parkway between Cypress Drive and 1,500 feet west of Old Pleasant Hill Road; and Doverplum Avenue between Old Pleasant Hill Road and Cypress Parkway.
According to organizers, 500 spectators are expected at each parade event.
BVL parade
From noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, the Buenaventura Lakes Community Association will host its second Christmas parade event in as many years.
The following roads will be closed for that event: the southbound lanes of Buenaventura Boulevard be-tween the Publix driveway south of Osceola Parkway and Trotters Drive at Archie Gordon Park; Competition Drive between Burning Tree Drive and Buenaventura Boulevard; Buttonwood Drive between East Cedarwood Circle and Buenaventura Boulevard; Trotters Circle between Harness Land and Buenaventura Boulevard; and Wagon Circle on both ends at Buenaventura Boulevard.
