Poinciana football
Poinciana High begins fall football practice Monday at 7 a.m. with a meeting at the weightroom. Practice ends at 4 p.m.
Players may join the team by reporting to Coach Gene Smith. Players should have their physicals before practice begins.

Harmony Golf Preserve offers $15 off greens fees through Aug. 14 because of aerification.

Osc. Youth Softball
The Osceola Youth Softball League will hold fall registration at Oren Brown Field, 3511 Baker Dr., (located off Hoagland Boulevard) for girls ages 4-14 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 15, 22, and 29. Fees are $65; $60 for each additional sibling including a jersey and insurance.
All new players must provide a copy of their birth certificate to register. Coaches and assistant coaches are needed, especially in the 8-under division.
“Come-n-Try Day,” Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon, is for new players to rotate through pitching, catching, and batting skills.
All new players must attend Assessment Day Aug. 29: 8-under at 9 a.m.; 10-under at 10 a.m.; 14 under at 11 a.m. For more information, call Becky Ligon (407- 343-5699) or Corinne Marion (407-738-2831).

Kissimmee LL
Kissimmee Little League fall ball registration is scheduled for Saturday and Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Oak Street Field.
Children ages 5-16 as of April 30, 2010 are eligible.
The fee is $75 for the first child, $35 for the second and $25 for each additional child. No birth certificate or proof of residency is required.
The season begins Sept. 11.

SC Soccer signups
St. Cloud Soccer Club will be hosting competitive team tryouts and registrations at Stephanie Rothstein Fields Saturday and Aug. 22 (9 a.m. to noon).
Tryouts Saturday are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for 14-U boys and girls.
Bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate for registration.
No tryouts are necessary for recreational players age 4 to 11. Coaches and volunteers are always welcome. Visit the Web site at www.stcloudsoccer.com for more information.

GOU U-13 tryouts
Greater Osceola United Soccer Club is looking for players to fill the roster of a traveling competitive Under-13 team (players born after Aug. 1, 1996). Tryouts will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7 p.m. at the fields adjacent to Kissimmee Utility Authority on Carroll Street. For information, call Sonia at 407-488-6359.

Kiwanis putt-putt
The Kiwanis Club of Kissimmee will host the Putt Up or Shut Up miniature golf tournament Aug. 22 at Pirates Island of Kissimmee, 4330 U.S. Highway 192.
The entry fee ($10) includes two rounds of golf and refreshments. Age groups are 15-under and 16-over.

SC hoops clinic
The city of St. Cloud Parks and Recreation Department will begin registration Monday at the St. Cloud Civic Center for a youth basketball fundamentals clinic.
The clinic is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 15 and focuses on the basic fundamentals of basketball, individual skills, and rules. The clinic will be held Aug. 29 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Civic Center Gym B.
The registration fee is $30 per participant and  includes a T-shirt.

SC leagues
The St. Cloud Parks and Recreation department is coordinating the adult men’s and coed fall softball leagues and the men’s 30-over 4-on-4 Tuesday  fall basketball league.
Team packets for the softball leagues are available starting Aug. 17 at the St. Cloud Civic Center.
The cost per team is $250. All payments and team rosters must be submitted by Sept. 4.
The Wednesday adult men’s league begins Sept. 16 and games begin at 7 p.m. The Friday coed league begins Sept. 18 and games begin at 7 p.m.
Team packets for the fall basketball league will be available Aug. 24 at the St. Cloud Civic Center. The cost per team is $250 (10 players maximum per team), and all payments and team rosters must be submitted by Sept. 11. The league begins Sept.15 at 7 p.m.

Fall softball
The city of Kissimmee athletics division will offer fall softball at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex beginning Aug. 23. The deadline for registering is Aug. 14 at 5 p.m. The fee is $400 per team.
Games will be played at the Fortune Road athletic complex, 2500 Fortune Road, Kissimmee, FL 34744, or Denn John ball fields. For information, call 407-518-2504 or 407-518-2345.

Flag football
The city of Kissimmee athletics division will offer fall flag football at Osceola High.
Registration runs Aug. 10 to Sept. 4. A 10-game season, tournament and sanction fees are included in the registration for $400.

Winter Bash hoops
The city of Kissimmee athletics division will host the Winter Bash adult basketball 5-on-5 program Sept. 10 at the Denn John Middle School Gym from 7 to 9 p.m.
Registration will take place Aug. 3 to Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. All players must be at least age 16 (with parent’s signature) or older to participate. The registration fee is $400 per team. Call 407-518-2504 or 407-518-2345.

OFSA registration
The Osceola Panthers of the Osceola Family Sports Association is taking registrations for its Flag (ages 5-6), Mighty Mites (7-8) and Senior (13-14) football divisions for this fall. Registrations will be taken at the pavilion by the Archie Gordon Park football fields in Buenaventura Lakes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Celebration LL
Celebration Little League is holding registration for the fall season for children ages 5 to 14.
New players must provide a birth certificate and two proofs of residence. Returning players do not  need these documents.

Water polo, diving
Youth ages 8-18 may join Toho Water Polo or Dive Osceola offered at the Makinson Aquatic Center in association with the Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department.
The water polo season is underway. Diving begins in September. No experience is necessary, but students must demonstrate swimming ability.

Open badminton
The Kissimmee Civic Center hosts open badminton on two courts weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The courts are open until 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and until 7 p.m. Fridays.
Racquets and shuttlecocks are available.
Watkins Fessal, a certified coach, is available Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Give Kids 5K
The Give Kids The World 5K is Nov. 7 at 8:30 a.m. at Give Kids The World Village, 210 S. Bass Rd., Kissimmee. A Fun Run begins at 10:15 a.m.

SC bass tourneys
The Thursday night bass tournaments are held weekly at St. Cloud Lakefront Park on East Lake Tohopekaliga. Tournaments begin at 5:30 p.m. and go until safe light ends. Cost is $25 per boat. For more information, contact Don Callaghan at 407-873-1158.

 Pavement Pounders
The St. Cloud Pavement Pounders non-profit running club welcomes new members of all ages.
The club meets each Tuesday and Thursday at 6:15 p.m. at Dicey Reilly’s Pub and Eatery on New York Avenue, next to city hall. First time visitors are encouraged to visit on Thursdays.
Tuesday is an open night, where runners train at their discretion. The club hosts a structured 5K run/walk on Thursday. Walkers begin at 6:45 p.m.; runners begin at 7 p.m. Skill levels range from beginners to marathon runners.

Kiss. adult hoops
The Kissimmee recreation department offers adult open gym basketball at the Denn John Middle School gym from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays. The fee is $3. You must be 18-over to participate. For information call 407-518-2504.

 Soccer lessons
Coach Hector, a former player and coach in Argentina, offers professional training for children ages 8-18 similar to the Argentina and Brazil minor league clubs. Call 407-933-2615.

Tennis league
The Osceola Tennis Network, a tennis league for fun and competition, meets Fridays at 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Street complex.
Also offered is USTA Junior Team Tennis, which meets Sundays at 4 p.m., and the Lady Slammers women’s league.

SC Aquatic Team
The St. Cloud Aquatic Team, a U.S. Swimming affiliate, welcomes swimmers of all ages. Participants 10-under must swim the length of the pool (25 yards) with a crawl stroke and back stroke. Swimmers age 11 and over must be able to swim front crawl with side breathing, back crawl and breaststroke. Swimmers may also participate in meets if they desire.

Open volleyball
The Kissimmee Athletics Division offers open gym volleyball at Denn John Middle School Tuesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m. This will include co-ed six-on-six games.
The cost is $3 per player and clean, non-marking court shoes are required.

Strokes ‘N Fun
The Kissimmee Strokes ‘N Fun youth swimming team seeks members for its year-round program at the Makinson Aquatic Center.
The team practices Mondays-Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The fee is $40 per month. Children must be able to swim the length of the pool to participate. Stop by any Monday through Wednesday for a free tryout. For information call 407-870-POOL.
